Theme and General Details
Recent years have been marked by incredible disruption and uncertainty. In the midst of a devastating pandemic, a divisive political climate, and economic turmoil, we turn to stories of Jesus that have anchored Christian communities in challenging times for over two millennia.
Our hope is that youth will leave with a bigger and broader vision of the kind of community Christ is calling us to be in times of loss, grief, and massive disruption. What would be possible if we tend to the needs of our communities in small and often disruptive ways as Jesus? May we do so with the faith that a multitude of small actions, like seeds, can activate a community’s healing and renewal.
CI-PNW was grateful to have the opportunity to safely, but carefully, return to an in-person, overnight camp.

IN THE MIDST was based on Luke 13 and focused on the subthemes of "What is the kin-dom of God like?" (exploring what Jesus meant when speaking about the kin-/kingdom of God); "What is the kin-dom in the midst of challenges?" (considering how we understand the kin-dom when living under or within an empire and/or in the midst of trauma); and "What is our participation in the kin-dom?" (emphasizing active participation; as people of faith continuing to build communities that make space for our grief, confusion, and fear). The Bible Study materials were based on the Youth Curriculum, Community In the Midst of Challinging Times: A Biblical Exploration of Luke 13 by Kenya Cummings, prepared for the United Women in Faith's Mission U 2022.
