KAPWA

Apathy is sewn as an integral part of the current societal fabric.
We're taught not to "care too much," which isolates us from understanding who we truly are and who we are in relation to others.

In contrast, "Kapwa" is a core element in the Filipino social and cultural psyche that acknowledges a shared identity, an inner self, that is shared with others. It forges an inherent unity between our peoples.

This year at Christmas Institute, we will explore Kapwa as a core tenet of our culture and our faith. Through our Filipino culture and through our faith in God, we are reminded that we have an inherent connection to God, an inherent connection to our self-worth, and inherent connection to others.
